Grand Army of the Republic
One of my hobbies is genealogy. This is a flag holder placed on the graves of veterans of the Union Army during the Civil War. This one was loose on the ground near the grave of one of my great uncles, in Perry County Ohio. My family has a rich history of military service I have found in my research.

I love doing genealogy also. My husband is into the Civil War and I'm into family genealogy. I've found out alot of interesting stuff and it's a good way to know your medical history.
Today is my 100th post! Please stop by.
That is a busy hobby...I haven['t tried that yet...but there is always tomorrow!
That is so great for your family to have that kind of long-standing military service spanning all that rich history. It's interesting to find all the connections to the generations before. I'm betting you can get totally engrossed in it. We recently found out about all sorts of long-gone relatives as well, although no one in the military, just a lot of sea-faring scoundrels...
Thanks for inviting me over. Genealogy/History is so very interesting and rewarding. My wife and I both have ancestors who served in the GAR and maybe if we continue to dig we may find some on the other side as well.
As you can imagine GAR insignias are very common here in Pa graveyards. The American Legion does a wonderful service by refreshing the markers on our veteran’s graves
